Jungle Prada de Narvaez Park

So here are some photos from a recent walk in the park. I was mostly looking for birdies.

The park

The park is located right on Tampa Bay. Narvaez landed somewhere around here.

But most people who come here don’t know of the history, and come for the fishing pier and the boat ramp

The walking paths run through the site of a Tocobaga native village

A “midden mound”, essentially a garbage pile

The middens are made by the accumulation of thousands of years of empty sea shells, mostly oysters
