Some Texas Flowers

It’s been a while since I have been out West. One thing I like about it is that nearly all of the critters and plants I see here are different from the ones I usually see back East, and the western desert has a surprising number of flowering plants.

So here are same native Texas flowers in El Paso seen lately.

  1. Other times when I’ve been out West it was in late summer and autumn. This is the first time I’ve been early enough to catch the spring flowers.

  2. Water is precious here and plants are full of water. So they are all armed to the hilt with an arsenal of spikes and thorns to protect themselves.
