While visiting the Morikami Gardens recently in Boca Raton FL, I unintentionally helped a Great Blue Heron catch his lunch, when he cleverly took advantage of me.
The Garden has a lot of koi, and you can buy pellets to feed them (oh, and the resident Florida turtles also muscle in to grab their share too)So as I was feeding the fishies, this Great Blue Heron dropped inOK, I have the feeling he’s done this before, since he knew exactly what he was doingThe Koi were obviously too big for him, but my Koi pellets were also luring in some of the local Sunfish and Tilapia …… which then became an easy target for the Heron“Thanks for the help, human”And lunch is servedA little pounding, a little tenderizing … … and down you go
The poor fishie thought he was gonna get a snack, and instead ended up AS the snack. 😦
Those birdies are clever critters.
