Battle Park in White Plains NY

The Battle of White Plains was part of the American defeat in New York during the Revolutionary War. Washington’s troops were driven out of Brooklyn, then Long Island. Here at White Plains they had to fight a rearguard action before withdrawing once again.

Some photos.

Nearly all of the battlefield is buried under streets and houses. But the Chatterton Hill, one of the important points in the American lines, is preserved as a city park.
