This is the first time I’ve returned to the Vegas Strip since my very first afternoon here almost two weeks ago. And in going to Shark Reef Aquarium, I am still sticking to my pledge not to see the inside of any of the casinos. 😉
Yeh, OK, it’s primary purpose is to draw people in to gamble their money away in a swanky faux-caribbean resort, and certainly there are things to be said about having a shark aquarium in the middle of the damn desert. But the Shark Reef is actually a very nice aquarium (and it’s AZA certified). I chatted with several of the docents, and they were far better-informed and knowledgeable about the sea life on display than I expected would be the case.
So here are some photos from a visit.

Green Tree Monitor. Monitor lizards are always fun to watch–very curious and active.

The traveling exhibit at the Aquarium featured mounted plasticized dissected bodies of sea creatures. This is a Blue Crab.
